PLANT PICK OF THE WEEK
New Guinea Impatiens
Now that the weather is getting warm your shady winter color like cyclamen and pansies are starting to die back. One of the longest lasting and most colorful summer replacements are the many varieties of New Guinea impatiens. These low maintenance plants have basically the opposite season of your cyclamen, starting to bloom in early spring through to the fall. They come in a variety of bright and pastel colors, with several different leaf shapes. Best of all, they aren’t susceptible to the ‘impatiens downy mildew’ that can kill traditional impatiens varieties. Our New Guineas come in 4″ and 8″ pots, for $3.99 and $15.99, respectively.
Closed Easter Sunday
We hope everyone has a wonderful Easter Sunday. The garden center will be closed Sunday, April 5, but look for our Easter specials on the Friday and Saturday before.
The Chicks Have Moved In
Our three week old chicks have moved into their permanent home here at the garden center. You can visit them in their coop behind the Edibles area. They are loving their new space, running around and flapping their wings. With any luck they’ll be starting to lay eggs in another six months or so.
