Local events that might interest some of you.

Very local:
Eat at Brett's BBQ on Encinitas Blvd and El Camino Real just east of Herman Cook Volkswagen. 1505 Encinitas Blvd. 92024 open from 11am to 9pm. Show them a card for the San Dieguito Heritage Museum and 20% of your food total will come to the Museum. The food is very good. Cards available at Weidners Gardens and on the Museum Web site .www.sdheritage.org go Brett's BBQ and download a coupon.

Local in the north San Diego County area. Evelyn's crazy Lima Bean Cook-Off Challenge Faire. Benefits the Heritage Museum. September 24, 25, & 26th. Public is invited. You'll have a good time. Bring some friends. Explore what this area used to be.

Friday night is Amateur Talent and Tequila Tasting. $20.00 includes tequila tasting and light supper, Beer, Margaritas too. 6 to 9:30

Saturday is Faire Day at the Museum.11 to 3pm Tasting ends at 2:30

caribbean lima bean dish ....Entrance is Free, Cook Off Tasting is $20.00 for a taste of all or 3 tastes for $5.00. Kids activities and fashion parade, Rope the Goat (wood), Tour the museum and eat and have fun. There will be other foods besides Lima Beans. Italian Gelato too. Craft vendors and lots of fun.

Sunday is the professional show with Magician Joel Ward and his variety Lima Bean Follies. 12:30 to 3 pm

Dessert Bar and a great show.

November Events and Classes.

Pansy digging starts Monday, November 1st, Gates open at 8am digging starts at 9 am
All the newest varieties , a special hanging basket viola, your favorites and more.

November 6 th and 7 th. A very full Weekend. We are calling the first two weekends of November our Fall Fiesta.

Saturday, November 6th we open the entire field of pansies. If you are a new pansy digger we now have this down to a science...welll almost! We mirror plant the pansy field and cordon off one half so that the weekend diggers have a fair chance on all of the most popular varieties. We'll have the Free Fertilizer tank up.

Fruit trees and Blueberries Please Read!Tom Spellman Day is November 13, Saturday. All day...
Workshops and all the advice and help you need.
We already have a list of all the Fruit trees and Blueberries that we have ordered for January delivery. We can't possibly order all the special varieties that some of you might want, Figs and Persimmons and your grandmother's favorite apple. You can do a Special Order Fruit Tree deal. Called a SOFT order at no extra cost. over what we would charge if we were ordering a quantity. You can pick the root stock for your area or to keep the trees more dwarf, Order really dwarf fruit trees.

It's a very long list. Too long to post. Now here's the hard part Dave Wison Fruit Tree nursery has a hard and fast cut off date for getting your soft order in. That date is November 12 One day before Tom Spellman is at our nursery with his day long Fruit Tree seminars that are so necessary if you want to be successful. We have special dispensation to still take your order on the 13th.

Come in now and look at the list.. Be ready on November 1st if not before to make your choices

We'll have a Fairy Garden and succulent Garden Class on November 6th. Will try for a Succulent Topiary (more than just wreaths) class on the 7th. There is already a waiting list on this so get your name on the list early.

The Free Fertilizer Tank will be up

We recently had our first succulent topiary/wreath workshop. Let by Paige Perkins Paige had all the wire frames already stuffed with moss and tied ready to go. Square/rectangle and round wreaths, Starfish, all sorts of shapes the moss is really packed tight and on the next class we'll have everyone bring a Phillip's Screw Driver for making holes. Had a great class. Pictures are in no particular order.
